Poet, artist and mystic Kahlil Gibran was born in 1883 to a poor Christian family in Lebanon and emigrated to the United States as an adolescent. Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) was among the most important Arabic language writers of the twentieth century. Poet, philosopher and artist his works have been translated into numerous languages and his drawings and paintings have been exhibited all over the world. The Prophet is his most famous work.
