Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer star as old flames Jean Pargetter and Lionel Hardcastle. Their love story was all set for a happy ending in the 1950s when Jean was a student nurse and Lionel, a young army officer. But he was posted abroad and they lost touch. Bob Larbey was a renowned sitcom and screenplay writer. For over 30 years, he was the writing partner of John Esmonde and together the duo wrote several hit comedies including The Good Life and Ever Decreasing Circles. Larbey's solo work included A Fine Romance and As Time Goes By. He died in 2014.
