This series, broadcast on Radio 4, is an assessment of the Bible's cultural, political, moral, social and personal impact, and a personal odyssey for John McCarthy as he questions the chapters he read during his time in captivity and discusses the meaning of truth and what it means to be human.

About the author

John McCarthy

John McCarthy is an author, broadcaster, journalist and motivational speaker. In 1986, he was kidnapped by terrorists in the Lebanon, and spent 1,943 days in captivity before being release on 8 August 1991. The experience inspired his 1993 memoir, Some Other Rainbow (co-authored with Jill Morrell) and prompted his landmark BBC radio series John McCarthy's Bible Journey.
