Having Spent Life Seeking

The blistering new novel about the transformative power of love, from the Sunday Times bestselling Kae Tempest

After fifteen years away, Rothko has washed up back in their hometown of Edgecliff, a scruffy coastal town. Rothko has been out of prison for six months and today is the first day of the rest of their life.

Back in 2005, nothing in their life made sense to them apart from Dionne - gemstone in her belly button, Nike Cortez, lip piercing - who kissed Rothko like there was nothing wrong with them. But keeping their relationship a secret was destroying them. Fleeing their home after another fight with their helpless father, a couple of wrong turns set in motion a chain of events that would dictate the course of Rothko's life - and the lives of those around them - forever.

In the ashes left behind, Rothko must reckon with who they are, and how to live and love on their own terms.
