Eleanor Dooks – who also writes as Eleanor Thom – is an author based in Edinburgh. Her first novel, The Tin-Kin, won the Saltire First Book of the Year Award and was shortlisted for the Not The Booker Prize. Eleanor was featured on BBC TV’S The Culture Show as one of the year’s best new novelists. She was one of The Jewish Literary Foundation and The Genesis Foundation’s emerging writers of non-fiction for the year 2023-24, and has received the Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship. Eleanor is also a carer and works in community arts. She spent six years as the Communities Writer in Residence for the Edinburgh International Book Festival, working with local people to help them tell their stories.
