Diary of a Magical Vet

It’s the weekend, and while everyone else is off having fun, I’m stuck in detention, shovelling unicorn dung in the school stables. So how did I end up here?

My name’s Felix Fennel. I’m eleven years old (or fifty-six in goblin years), and I’m a first-year student at Firebelly Vet School for Magical Animals.

I’ve dreamed of becoming a magical animal vet since I was old enough to ride a Pegasus. But unless something changes soon, that dream’s about to go up in smoke . . .

When Felix discovers a mysterious dragon egg, he hopes his troubles at magical vet school are over. If he can hatch it, then maybe he can prove he's not just one big magnet for trouble - and just as capable of looking after magical animals as his famous Gran.

Unfortunately, it turns out caring for baby dragons is HARD WORK. They're cheeky, hungry, and prone to more than a little bit of mischief. But they're also a lot of fun - and soon Felix and Quake are the best of friends.

But just how did Quake end up at Firebelly School in the first place? And can Felix help Quake grow into the fully fledged dragon he needs to become - or will he get expelled trying?
