Ramen Kingdom

In Ramen Kingdom, the Guardian’s Japan correspondent Justin McCurry cycles 1,500 miles from the country’s deep south to its far north, eating and drinking his way through one of the world’s most celebrated food cultures. From miso ramen in Hokkaido to soy sauce on Shodo island, from street food in Osaka to the refined flavours of old Kyoto, he meets restaurateurs, brewers, hunters and producers whose livelihoods are bound to landscape and history. Part travelogue, part cultural history, this is an immersive journey into the beating heart of Japanese cuisine through an epic journey on two wheels.
