#Merky Books is an award-winning imprint launched in 2018 by Stormzy and Penguin Random House UK with a clear ambition to publish books that will own – and change – the mainstream.
Our publishing includes the award-winning That Reminds Me by Derek Owusu, Jade LB’s Keisha the Sket, the New Writers’ Prize winners Hafsa Zayyan, Jyoti Patel and Monika Radojevic, and forthcoming novels from Taylor Dior-Rumble and Toya Wolfe.
In non-fiction, we have published Taking Up Space by Ore Ogunbiyi and Chelsea Kwakye, Calum Jacobs’ A New Formation and the life stories of figures such as Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman and boxer Ramla Ali. In the future we will publish Work in Progress by Virgil Abloh and Anja Aronowsky Cronberg, the memoir of Olympic champion Caster Semenya, Sisterhood Heals by the founder of Black Girl Therapy, Joy Harden Bradford, and Reframing Blackness by Alayo Akinkugbe, founder of #ablackhistoryofart. Community values are vital to what we do, and we invest in the voices of today and tomorrow with our New Writers’ Prize and cultural brand partnerships which connect directly with an inclusive and intersectional audience.
