Jamie Birkett

Commissioning Editor, Penguin Business & Penguin Life

I publish across both the Penguin Life and Penguin Business lists.

For Penguin Life, I commission books on psychology, neuroscience and smart thinking, whilst for Penguin Business my tastes are broad, but I’m particularly interested in books on work, productivity, economics, business exposés, leadership and innovation.

I’m searching for books that bring a popular approach to subjects traditionally considered difficult like Tim Harford’s How to Make the World Add Up or Yanis Varoufakis’s Talking to My Daughter About the Economy, investigative business journalism like John Carreyrou’s Bad Blood or Patrick Radden Keefe’s Empire of Pain, expansive approaches to economics, society and big ideas like Minouche Shafik’s What We Owe Each Other or Mariana Mazzucato’s Mission Economy, and expert-led psychology, neuroscience and smart thinking titles like Being You by Anil Seth or Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman and Patrick Egan.
