Join Dolly Alderton, award-winning, bestselling author of Everything I Know About Love, and co-host of The High Low podcast, for this online event to celebrate publication of her debut novel.

Ghosts is the story of Nina Dean, who arrives in her thirties and realises they are not the liberating, uncomplicated experience she was sold. When she meets Max, a beguiling romantic hero who tells her on date one that he's going to marry her, it feels like all is going to plan. But everywhere she turns, she is reminded of time passing and opportunities dwindling. Friendships are fading, ex-boyfriends are moving on and, worse, everyone's moving to the suburbs.

Dolly Alderton's debut novel is funny and tender, and in this event she will talk about what she learnt when writing the novel, which is all about the complexities of relationships, family, memory, and how we live now.

Dolly will be in conversation, discussing the novel and the highs and lows of entering your thirties. You will also have a chance to ask Dolly questions directly during the audience Q&A.

This event is a partnership between Penguin Live and Waterstones.

Don’t miss your chance to grab a copy of Ghosts (RRP £14.99) when you buy your ticket for this event.

This event will be hosted via Zoom webinar. You will be sent your personal link to login ahead of the event date.

Nina Dean has arrived at her early thirties as a successful food writer with loving friends and family, plus a new home and neighbourhood. When she meets Max, a beguiling romantic hero who tells her on date one that he's going to marry her, it feels like all is going to plan.

A new relationship couldn't have come at a better time - her thirties have not been the liberating, uncomplicated experience she was sold. Everywhere she turns, she is reminded of time passing and opportunities dwindling. Friendships are fading, ex-boyfriends are moving on and, worse, everyone's moving to the suburbs. There's no solace to be found in her family, with a mum who's caught in a baffling mid-life makeover and a beloved dad who is vanishing in slow-motion into dementia.

Dolly Alderton's debut novel is funny and tender, filled with whip-smart observations about relationships, family, memory, and how we live now.
