Primary teaching resources

The exploration of diverse and inclusive cultural perspectives is a powerful tool to excite the imagination of young readers. The inclusion of such perspectives can lead to greater empathy and understanding as children’s outlook on the world matures. Unfortunately, texts by authors of colour are underrepresented in our education system, meaning students often have limited, or no, opportunities to engage with such texts.

To combat this, we have created the following resources for teachers and schools to introduce more texts by authors of colour into their classrooms. Some of these resources include videos of the author reading an extract from their book aloud and/or talking about the text, as well as text extracts, worksheets and PowerPoints of interactive activities you can run with your classes. Download them all for free below.
