- 5 lockdown activities to keep little ones busy this Easter weekend

This Easter weekend is bound to be a little bit different, but for parents, one thing is staying the same: your kids will be looking for something to keep them busy, and you might be, too.
Finding things to do that don’t involve game consoles and the TV can be tricky at the best of times, but fear not – we’ve rounded up five activities from our children’s book hubs to keep the young (and young at heart) entertained. Get your hands messy below, then head over to Puffin and Ladybird for more.
Out-of-this-world treats to make at home
A family that cooks together, stays together – or falls out big time. But these delicious and mind-boggling treats are pretty easy to make, so we’re sure that won’t be the case. There’s also some interesting science behind these tasty recipes, so you’ll all be learning while you’re having fun.
Make a butterfly mobile
We obviously can’t go outside as much as we’d like at the moment, so why not bring some nature indoors? All you’ll need to make this pretty butterfly mobile is some card, colouring pencils, scissors, sticky tape, string and imagination. This fun arty activity will keep little hands busy for a while and will brighten up your home.

Watch our Puffin Storytime series
Starting this week, a selection of our authors and illustrators have come together for this new video series. Settle down with some snacks for a storytime session with the likes of Sam Copeland and Robin Stevens. Or grab a pen and piece of paper each – and snacks – and learn how to draw with Dapo Adeola.
Test your kids’ book knowledge (and your own)
Who’s the biggest bookworm in your household? It’s time to find out, and you’ve only got 30 seconds to answer. Who terrorised Matilda and her friends at school? Where did Peter Pan take Wendy and her brothers? Put on your own family gameshow with our ultimate Puffin books quiz. We have a host of other quizzes for you to try, too.
Easy, in-house science experiments
Have you got the next Einstein on your hands? Try these kid-friendly science experiments together. They’re simple (no chemistry degree required), will keep you all occupied, and might just blow your mind. Plus, is there anything better than seeing that look of wonder on their face?
