The Young Dread

A gripping short story from the Seeker world, which delves deeper into one of the series' most enigmatic characters: The Young Dread.

Fans of Veronica Roth’s 'Divergent', Marie Lu’s 'Legend', and Suzanne Collins’s 'The Hunger Games' series: your next obsession has arrived

Arwen Dayton has written screenplays and novels, including Sovereign’s Hold and Resurrection, the #1 Amazon bestseller in sci-fi in both the US and the UK. She spends months doing research for her stories (including climbing into the Great Pyramid at Giza with nothing but a torch while developing Resurrection) and enjoys creating complete worlds inhabited by characters who charm, frustrate or inspire. Arwen lives with her Internet mogul husband and their three children in the hills near Santa Monica, California.

The Young Dread lives outside the stream of time: frozen for vast stretches, centuries old yet inhabiting the form of a teenage girl. When she’s awake in the world, she can hear an enemy approach from a mile away, manipulate a whipsword into a thousand forms, and attack with it faster than the human eye can see.

The Young Dread observes the training of the families known as Seekers. Past and future intertwine in Seeker traditions - they are the keepers of both ancient knowledge and advanced weapons - and the Dreads must oversee it all, testing their skills, swearing them to loyalty, bringing them justice.

Arwen Elys Dayton takes readers on a journey to follow this ageless Dread’s footsteps. For this time, when the Young Dread wakes, things will change. She is about to discover the first threads of a web in which she and so many others will be trapped.

Traveler

The sequel to Seeker, Traveler is a fantasy thriller, perfect for fans of Mortal Instruments and the Hunger Games.

But the night she took her Oath, Quin learned the terrible truth about what being a Seeker really means. And now, the boy she once loved is out for vengeance, with her family in his sights.

Along with her oldest companion, Shinobu, Quin desperately wants answers. But the deeper Quin and Shinobu dig, the darker things become. There are long-vanished Seeker families, shadowy alliances - and a sinister plan, set in motion generations ago, with the power to destroy them all.

Quin Kincaid has been put through years of brutal training for what she thinks is the noble purpose of becoming a revered ‘Seeker’.

Only when it’s too late does she discover she will be using her new-found knowledge and training to become an assassin. Quin has spent her life as a pawn. She was trained to kill and manipulated to guarantee her family’s power. And now that she’s broken free of that life, she’s found herself trapped again, hostage to a plot that has been centuries in the making. Her best friend Shinobu’s mind has been corrupted, the Young Dread has aligned with her enemy John, and the bloodthirsty Watchers are being awakened and gathered.

But Quin will no longer be a pawn. Quin is a Seeker. She stands for light in a shadowy world. She will face the vengeance of the past and its enemies and save herself and the ones she loves - or she will die trying.
