Classic TV novelisation

Blake's 7: The Way Back & Cygnus Alpha

Gareth Thomas and Paul Darrow read this adaptation of four classic Blake's 7 TV adventures.

On Earth in the far future, Roj Blake discovers the truth about his past life as a resistance leader against the ruthless Federation. Framed for a series of crimes he did not commit, Blake is sentenced to life of a distant penal colony planet. But his journey there, aboard the prison ship London, will shape his future in an unexpected way.

Along with fellow prisoners Avon and Jenna, Blake is sent to investigate the majestic Liberator spaceship. From there he spearheads a new rebellion, determined to free those other prisoners sentenced to life on Cygnus Alpha. Before long the trio find themselves in the hands of superstitious maniacs. Gradually Blake's crew of freedom fighters is assembled - not forgetting the Liberator's stalwart computer, Zen.

Gareth Thomas, who played Blake in the TV series, and Paul Darrow, who played Avon, read Trevor Hoyle's complete and unabridged novelisation.

But now the Federation's Supreme Commander Servalan and her lieutenant, the evil and embittered Space Commander Travis, are launched upon a plan that cannot fail. Their aim: to capture the Liberator, to trap and destroy Blake's seven, and to defeat for ever the freedom fighters of the universe!

Jacqueline Pearce, who played Servalan in the BBC TV series, and Paul Darrow, who played Avon, read Trevor Hoyle's novelisation of the TV serials Seek–Locate–Destroy, Duel, Project Avalon, Deliverance and Orac, all written by Terry Nation.

Glynis Barber

Steven Pacey and Glynis Barber read this exciting novelisation of three adventures from the fourth – and final – Blake’s 7 TV series.

In Rescue, events on the planet Terminal have left Avon’s crew depleted, battle-weary and stranded. When they’re picked up by salvage operator Dorian, in his battered spaceship Scorpio, their fortunes appear to have changed. However, their rescuer holds a closely guarded secret...

In Traitor, the new crew of Scorpio continues its crusade against the Federation. Tarrant and Dayna are dispatched to Helotrix to learn about the enemy’s new pacifying drug, Pylene 50. Unbeknownst to them, familiar figure is working in the shadows – and she goes under the name of Commissioner Sleer.

In Stardrive, Avon becomes determined to acquire the newly invented Photonic Drive to boost Scorpio’s potential. The search for its inventor, Dr Plaxton, takes them to the planet Caspar, where they must first confront the violent Space Rats. Once again, it seems that Avon will stop at nothing to achieve his aims.

Steven Pacey (Tarrant) and Glynis Barber (Soolin) read Trevor Hoyle’s novelisation, available as an audiobook for the very first time.
