The Word is Murder, a Level 6 Reader, is B1+ in the CEFR framework. The longer text is made up of sentences with up to four clauses, introducing future continuous, reported questions, third conditional, was going to and ellipsis. A small number of illustrations support the text.

Anthony Horowitz is a writer who lives in London. In The Word is Murder, he mixes fact and fiction. A fictional investigator, Daniel Hawthorne, works for the Metropolitan Police. Horowitz has agreed to write a book about Hawthorne and joins him in his investigation into the strange murder of Diana Cowper.
