The Need

Rosie Armstrong just wants to live a normal teenage life. She wants a TikTok. She wants to go to prom. Unfortunately, her brother is a cannibal. So is her mom.

Rosie, Sam, and Talia move from place-to-place, starting new high schools, hiding their real identities, every time Sam inevitably takes a bite out of someone. Their new town, Vernon, seems promising. There is someone there that intrigues them both, for reasons neither of them really understand. Naomi has an aura, a buzzing, something that Sam could never have dreamed to find in someone else. And it’s about to turn both of their worlds upside down.

As far as Rosie and Sam know, Sam and Talia are the only people in the world with this affliction. Talia works tirelessly to make sure that their past, and her terrifying mother-in-law Vera, never, ever catch up with them. But the walls might just be closing in. And Vera will make sure that this time, the gene therapy that failed and killed her normal, unafflicted son, will work for Rosie. As soon as she’s able to find them…
