In the year that marks the centenary of JD Salinger’s birth, join us at Waterstones Piccadilly to celebrate the life and works of one of the most celebrated writers of the 20th Century.

The evening will include a discussion and audience Q&A with his son, Matt Salinger, in conversation with Erica Wagner, as well as readings from special guests, Gwendoline Riley and Sam Jordison, celebrating Salinger’s work, from  Catcher in the Rye to the Glass Family.

Gwendoline Riley is the author of five novels, and a collection of short stories. Her latest novel, First Love (Granta Books, 2017) was shortlisted for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Goldsmiths Prize.

Sam Jordison is the co-director of the award-winning independent publisher, Galley Beggar Press. He is the author of a host of titles, including the Crap Towns series and Enemies of the People, and writes a regular column for The Guardian.

Erica Wagner will be chairing the discussion with Matt Salinger. Erica is an author, interviewer, and lecturer whose works have appeared across Europe. She has appeared on the Man Booker judging panel twice, and reviews regularly for The New York Times.
