Come and Spend the Day With Penguin!

Welcome to Spend the day with Penguin!

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is loneliness, and given the bumpy couple of years it's been for everyone, we thought it was a perfect time to reach out to a larger community to celebrate the connections we have, and how reading together can help facilitate the relationships we care about.

Today, we're coming together to do just that, with help from some incredible authors, including Julia Samuel, Emily Henry, Giselle La Pompe-Moore and Charlie Mackesy. You can find the full line-up and timings, from 9am to 5pm, below.

Spend the day with Penguin is all about getting together - we want to hear from you, so please feel free to interact and join in on our Instagram and Twitter channels as much as you like.

We'll be streaming everything today through Instagram live: head over to our account and click on our avatar to watch, comment and join in. One housekeeping note: we can only stream live on instagram for an hour at a time, so if you experience an outage, don’t worry – we’ll be back immediately, and we’ll try to make sure these breaks happen at the best possible time.

Here is the outline of today's events:

9am: Not sure what to read next? Use #AskPenguin on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook to let us know what kind of book you're interested in – your favourite genre / authors / where you want to be transported to etc – and we'll give you a personalised reading recommendation

11am: Julia Samuel answers your mental health questions

11.30am: Poetry readings from Yomi Sode and Ralf Webb

12pm: Listen along to the audiobook of Charlie Mackesy's The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse
