Peggy escapes to her uncle's psychic emporium in the city, seeking out new ghosts to help her solve Sally's case.
Yet time is running out, and each step towards uncovering the truth also brings Sally one step closer to the gallows. . .

We whisperlings are the living voice for the dead. It's always been so. But not everyone likes it...
Whisperling sisters Violet and Clemency run regular 'Messaging' sessions at their mam's canal-side pub. People come from far and wide to hear from their fathers, brothers, sons, all now ghosts of the men who died in the 'great' war. The sisters are happy to do their bit, and the service they provide is welcomed by all.
That is until whisperlings begin to go missing. Girls, with the special ability to speak with the dead, are disappearing, without a trace. And perhaps what had become a prized gift is once again becoming a reason for whisperling persecution.
The girls are afraid but have each other...until Clemency becomes one of the missing. The only option Violet has is to follow her sister's trail, enter a murky underworld beneath the cobbled streets of Gloucester to find her, and perhaps more than they've ever bargained for.
