Ebury is launching a new imprint dedicated to creative gift publishing. Headed up by Laura Higginson and Elen Jones, Pop Press will publish around 20 titles a year focused on trend-led, beautifully designed, impulse-price-point gift books.

The list launches today (12 October) with The Wisdom of Unicorns and Pride and Prejudice & Emojis, followed up in November by Moon Journal, The Book of Tarot and The Frustrated Commuter’s Companion.

Moving past Christmas, in 2018 Pop Press’s list will include Buddha Bowls for the New Year detox, The Periodic Table of Feminism to celebrate International Women’s Day and The Little Book of Mr & Mrs Questions to kick-start wedding season, swiftly followed up by How to Tie a HeadscarfFancy Frenchies – French Bulldogs in CostumesMermaid MagicLlive, Llaugh, Llove: Llike a Llama and The Super Cute Book of Kawaii.

Speaking of the launch at this year's Frankfurt Book Fair, Laura Higginson said: "Increasingly, our books share the same space as luxury greetings cards, mugs, t-shirts, tea towels, stationery and the like. Pop is Ebury’s way to focus our collective creative energy to ensure our books are the gifts – treats for yourself or others – that shoppers choose, love and share."

Elen Jones added: "We’ve already had loads of great support from our trade and non-trade retailers and are working closely with them, and our rights and export teams to develop ideas that can thrive across all sales channels at home and internationally. We’re also very keen to work with agents and established authors who have off-beat trend-led ideas or quirky passion projects."

Deputy Publisher Andrew Goodfellow, who will work with Laura and Elen on developing the list commented: "Idea generation has always been a key part of Ebury’s publishing DNA and I’m thrilled we now have an imprint entirely dedicated to such an enterprise, headed up by two such creative dynamos."
