Deborah Wright

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer I oversee Technology, Distribution, Facilities and our Strategic Programme portfolio, so it will come as no surprise to hear I am passionate about how our company operates and finding the right solutions. I have led the operational integration of Penguin Random House since the merger which finished in 2020 and was an exciting and challenging undertaking. What matters most to me is leading with authenticity, energy, passion and with a real connection to our purpose. I find mentoring and coaching colleagues incredibly rewarding, and, as a lesbian woman in a senior role, I also hope I inspire others to be true to themselves and strive to achieve their goals.

A book that's left a deep impression on me: Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall

My literary hero: Tove Jasson - Finnish author, novelist, painter and illustrator.

A book I'd recommend to everyone: The Old Ways by Robert Macfarlane
